Why we need CAN Number?
When you try to apply certificates or any other services online in Tamil Nadu in the application form it requires CAN number. You cannot apply online services without a CAN number. So we need to create CAN number for applicant before apply to the service. For example, we need this number to apply online for Community certificate, Nativity Certificate, Income Certificate, First Graduate Certificate.
How to Register CAN Number Online in TNEGA

Firstly, you have to sign in to your TNEGA account. You have to visit tnesevai.tn.gov.in. After opening the official website then click citizen login and sign in to your TNEGA account. If you don’t have account then read my previous article and sign up to a new account.
After signing in to your account choose Revenue department to open the online services available in revenue department. For reference see the following below image. If you click revenue department then it shows the available online services.
After that to apply this number you have to click any one of the listed online services. For example, I choose REV 101 Community Certificate to apply. You can choose as per your wish. The window looks similar to the below image.
Then a new screen will open as like below image. They have mentioned the service description, Supporting Documents, and Application fees. Government only requires Rs: 60 for each service. You have to click “proceed” button to move to the next screen.
Moreover, an application form will open in a new window requires the details of the applicant and can number. It asks to create this number if the applicant don’t have this unique number. So click the “Register can” option to apply.
Fill the Applicant Details
A new window will open requires the credentials of the applicant in detail. Certainly, you have to fill this carefully. Because it is a one time registration process. I will guide you here to ill each and every box.
| Document Type 1 | You cannot choose anything here. Because it will be set aadhaar card as default. |
| Aadhaar Number | Here you can enter the applicant aadhaar number. |
| Document Type 2 | You can choose either Ration Card or Epic Number or Srilanka Ration card |
| Appellation | Here you have select the correct appellation of the applicant either Thiru or Thirumathi,Selvi, Selvan) |
| Applicant Name | You have enter the correct name of the applicant. |
| Vinnappathaarar peyar | Also you have to enter the applicant name in Tamil. |
| Gender | Choose the correct gender either Male or Female |
| Martial Status | You have choose the Martial status of the applicant either married or unmarried |
| Date of Birth | Choose the correct Date of Birth of the applicant |
| Relationship | choose any one of the relationship either father, mother, husband, guardian |
| Father/Husband/Mother/ Guardian Name | Give the name of the selected relationship in English. |
| Thanthai/ Kanavar/ Thaai/ Pathukavalar Peyar | Give also the name of the selected relationship in Tamil. |
| Mother Name | Give the mother name of the applicant in English. |
| Thayin peyar | Give also the mother name o the applicant in Tamil. |
| Religion | Also select the religion of the applicant. |
| Community | Also Select the community |
| Occupation | Give the occupation of the applicant. |
| Education Qualification | Give the educational qualification of applicant. |
CAN Number OTP Verification
If you fill the above all details correctly then click “Generate OTP”option. If you click this link then it will send an One time password to your email id and phone no. Further, you can give the OTP to verify your account. After verification you can get your unique number.
